Join local mother and naturalist Rachel Castor for nature exploration play with your babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers, ages 0-6 years.

This program is designed for parents or caregivers with children ages 0-6.
Dress for the weather.  This class is held outside, rain, snow, or shine.

MARCH: Fridays 9:30-11am at RED SANDS.

Meet and park at the corner of Bealby Point Road and Bealby Point Road (yes, I know, terrible directions). 

Bring: Warm snow clothes, a sled/baby carrier (optional), a healthy snack, water. 

No pets or strollers please.

*DIRECTIONS:  From downtown, head North towards the Big Orange Bridge on Hwy 3 (Nelson Ave.) Take a Right on Kokanee Ave (at the Dairy Queen).  Turn L onto 3rd Street.  Take the 2nd Right onto Gordon Rd.  Take the 3rd Left onto Bealby Rd.  Continue onto Bealby Point Road.  You’ll head out of town, with the railroad tracks and the lake below you.  You’ll pass Red Sands Beach.  Park at the juncture where another Bealby Road turns Left into a little neighborhood and crosses the railroad tracks. It is the only area where parking is allowed.   We will be walking below the tracks along the lake and along a little creek to Red Sands Beach.  See you there!

Join local mother and naturalist Rachel Castor for nature-themed play, songs, stories and indoor explorations using all the senses with your babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers, ages 0-6 years.

This program is designed for parents or caregivers with children ages 0-6.  This class is held once a month during December, January, February, and March in the Family Place.  Please leave your outdoor clothes and boots downstairs and bring your snack with you.  All donations ($2/family suggested) will be given to the Family Place in lieu of rental fees for the use of the room.

DECEMBER 2 -Bears &  Hibernation (our November Theme) and Snow & Ice (our December Theme)

JANUARY 6 – Winter Birds

FEBRUARY 3 – Tracks in the Snow: Animals Active in Winter

MARCH 2 – Migration!

Bring: A healthy snack and water.  No nuts please.

*DIRECTIONS: The Family Place is in a large Blue house accessed through the Alley.  Their address is 312 Silica Street, which is the block off of Stanley St.  Coming from downtown Nelson (Baker St.)  Turn uphill on Stanley St. (at Otter Books).  Turn Right onto Silica St.  The Family Place is on your left, after the church.

    Will there be any outdoor groups in Jane deb or march? Thanks!

    • Jane, I will update the website now for our January programs… we are ongoing! January we are meeting mondays, 9:30-11am at the group campsite at Kokanee Creek Park. February we will change days and locations. Call me if you have any questions or want to carpool 509-0433. How old is/are your child/ren? Rachel.

    • Jane, I also added your name to our email list, which I notify when new programs are starting or old programs changing. I hope we will see you out in the snow :)
